How The Low Country Attracts Developers And Residents

Goose Creek, South Carolina is a city of over 40,000 in the metro Charleston area. It is not blessed with the historic architecture of that city, or with the broad beaches of neighboring coastal communities. Yet Goose Creek has become one of the fastest-growing cities in Berkeley County.

“This is a rapidly growing community that has been growing for a long time,” says economic development director Matt Brady. “But, until recently, we had growing pains without the amenities. People from here drove to Summerville or to North Charleston to visit shops or restaurants. As the area has grown, what used to be a five-minute trip now takes much longer.”
