The Medical University of South Carolina will receive $10.8 million from the National Institutes of Health’s Center for Research Resources, NIH officials announced today.
The funding will go to MUSC’s Center for Developmentally Based Cardiovascular Diseases and is part of the NIH’s $117.3 million in institutional development grants awarded to 11 Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence across the nation.
The purpose of the awards is to increase research capability and to improve competitiveness of researchers in states that historically have not received significant levels of competitive NIH research funding.
