It seems that Avatar has created 3-D fever, but now the SC Aquarium plans to add a 4-D theater. This theater will include a 3-D movie, plus an interactive chair that “produces sensory effects, including water, vibrations, and even a variety of scents.”
But where will they put the new theater? This new 52-seat area is scheduled to open in April, and will be housed inside a portable trailer in the open space between the Aquarium and the Fort Sumter Visitors Center. Tickets can be purchased just for the theater, or as an add-on to regular Aquarium admission. The first screening will be an episode from everyone’s favorite Discovery Channel Series “Planet Earth: Shallow Seas.” The theater is scheduled to be in Charleston for at least a year, and may extend its stay after that.
