TALENT SPOTLIGHT: CLARISSA CRITCHELL

What’s your background? How did you end up with Thorne?

My background is in manufacturing. I started with Thorne right out of high school and have held many different roles throughout the company. I was attending college part-time when I started and continued to do so as I progressed in my career. Attending classes and working at the same time was advantageous since I could apply my learning to real-life scenarios. Now I am the VP of Manufacturing.

How did you end up in CHS?

I relocated to Charleston with Thorne in 2018. My husband and I took a trip to check out Charleston with Thorne, and we had such a great time getting lost in the history of this place. We researched the opportunities our entire family would have, and I had a desire to continue to work for a company with values and a mission I could stand behind. Everything aligned and we made the call to move across the country.

What are the biggest benefits to working in CHS?

The most significant benefit of working here in the Charleston area is the access to resources. The support we’ve received with training and developing alongside a diversity of sectors has helped my team achieve our goals.

Any advice for new grads seeking to work in your industry?

In my experience, folks can get caught up in chasing a career for all the wrong reasons. The number one question I get is how I ended up where I am. My advice is to put in the time and do something you love. Genuinely enjoying what you do helps you get through tough times, and it helps create a positive culture that folks want to be a part of.

Describe your ideal, quintessential Charleston day.

My quintessential Charleston day is getting in my car and taking a drive under the live oak-covered roads. My family loves spending our time in nature, and it doesn’t get better than taking the drive down to Edisto and spending the day looking for shells and playing on the beach with our dogs.
