SUNCOM to build new headquarters on Daniel Island

The Daniel Island Company, the Trammell Crow Company and Brumley Meyer & Kapp has announced a joint venture to build a 100,000 square-foot SunCom regional headquarters facility for Triton PCS in the Daniel Island Corporate Center. Charleston region attracts major player in Latin American textiles industry

A new company has set up shop in the Charleston region after intensive study found this area to provide the best available access between North American and Latin American operations. IDEA, an acronym for Interconnexion: Distribuir y Enviar para las Americas (the distribution and shipping connection of the Americas), announced today that it will open a new operation in Berkeley County, employing 15 workers and investing $850,000 in the region. Region lands headquarters for international trading company

The Ladson area is now home to international trading company Mayoruna Limited. Mayoruna recently established its headquarters here, relocating its management staff from Dublin, Ireland. Trident Technical College gets $1.5 million federal grant

The U.S. Commerce Department has given a $1.5 million grant to Trident Technical College for phase II of the Complex for Industrial and Economic Development. The grant will be used to build a 40,300-square-foot Information Technology Center to accommodate increased enrollment in courses related to computer programming, Web site design and multimedia presentation. Aerospace firm plans area plant

Aerospace parts maker Acutec Precision Machining announced it will open a manufacturing facility in this small Berkeley County town and pump $2 million and 16 new jobs into its economy. Pennsylvania-based Acutec, which makes parts for Boeing jets and Bell helicopters, plans to build a 20,000-square-foot facility in the St. Stephen Commerce Park and begin operation by mid-September.
