Trident Technical College gets $1.5 million federal grant

The U.S. Commerce Department has given a $1.5 million grant to Trident Technical College for phase II of the Complex for Industrial and Economic Development. The grant will be used to build a 40,300-square-foot Information Technology Center to accommodate increased enrollment in courses related to computer programming, Web site design and multimedia presentation. Aerospace firm plans area plant

Aerospace parts maker Acutec Precision Machining announced it will open a manufacturing facility in this small Berkeley County town and pump $2 million and 16 new jobs into its economy. Pennsylvania-based Acutec, which makes parts for Boeing jets and Bell helicopters, plans to build a 20,000-square-foot facility in the St. Stephen Commerce Park and begin operation by mid-September.
