A leading cancer drug researcher has moved his work to South Carolina to become a part of the state’s SmartState Program (previously known as the Centers of Economic Excellence Program). Dr. Patrick Woster will be based at the S.C. Citadel receives $600,000 grant for STEM

The Citadel has received a five-year grant worth $593,250 to support its civil and environmental engineering department. The National Science Foundation award will provide undergraduate scholarships to “outstanding, but socioeconomically disadvantaged, minority and female students in South Carolina,” according to a news release from the college. State poised for aviation industry growth

Boeing launched its aviation plant last week in North Charleston — and South Carolina is on the cusp of a potential burst of growth in aviation-related industries. Gov.
